    • Hi Amanda, I used the salsa verde from Trader Joe’s. But I make my own green salsa too and it’s super easy. Just use 6 tomatillos – first place them in a skillet – no oil – rotating often until the skin starts to blacken. Through them into a food processor with 1/2 a jalapeno, about 3 cups of cilantro, the juice from 1 lime, a little bit of sea salt, and some pepper. Pulse until smooth!

  1. I love all these recipes that are for wraps or variations (tacos/tortillas), but what I can figure out is how to eat them with out the lettuce falling apart? = )

  2. These demos are great! I think it’s so nice to see your son helping out in the kitchen and as a result, is probably pretty on-track with paleo-eating. He seems to be pretty excited to be there.
Also, I’m so glad you kept pointing out that just because you’re in a hurry doesn’t mean that you can’t stay paleo. I’ve heard quite a bit that “it’s hard to stay paleo when you’re in a rush” or something along those lines.

Thanks for another great looking recipe. Can’t wait to try it out : )

  3. LOVE the red cabbage! Thanks for posting. Love your blog! One issue I am having as I enter month two of my new Paleo lifestyle is that recipes like this make me want to eat all of it at once!!! Your videos are a great touch!

  4. Love the use of Trader Joe products, makes life so much easier!! BTW: Do you find you need to drain the fat from the ground meat when using grass-fed? My husband insists I still drain it when I make meat sauce or anything.

    • Hi Tracey,
I don’t ever drain the fat when I’m cooking grass-fed – it would feel almost sinful… ; ) Also, I find that there is never really that much fat to drain because the meat is so much leaner!

  5. Can’t wait to try this! Thanks for being a constant reminder of how easy Paleo is. I am met with moderate resistance here in my household. But, you help me stay strong!
Oh, I also just ordered Planet Box lunch boxes for my kiddos! Can’t wait til they get here!!!

  6. Can’t wait to try this recipe and so many of your others. Your blog is such a great resource. I also wanted to ask where you got your cool t-shirt that you have on in this video??

Thanks so much for all your information and inspiration!

  7. Made this the other night and it was AWESOME. It’s recipes like this that makes love your blog. It was quick, easy, very tastey and very healthy. Thanks so much. Keep more of this type coming.

  8. I love the Paleo Tacos with purple cabbage!!! Delicious. I used ground elk instead of ground beef, a great way to use up elk from last year. Hopefully, we’ll be stalking our freezer, with elk, again soon :) Thanks for the recipes, everydaypaleo.com is great!

  9. Sarah can you tell me what balsamic vinegar you use it looks very rich and thick the type I can never find!!! can’t wait for your book!!!

  10. At first I wasn’t sure about having mango on my tacos, but it turns out this recipe is soooo good. The mango adds a perfect bit of sweetness to the slaw. Great work!

  11. Sarah,
I finally tried this recipe! It was so delicious, my husband and I almost at the whole thing for dinner. The only change I did was replaced mango for pineapple. It was so great! Thank You for all of your wonderful recipes! I have ordered your book for myself and for my sister-in-law. We can’t wait til we get it! Thanks again!

  12. Hi sarah,
This is the first of your receipes that I’ve made and it was delicious. My mango wasn’t ripe so I added an apple to the slaw! The only problem is that I had made enough to take to work tomorrow but I ate it all! Thanks again
    Jenny

  13. Sarah,

Thank you so much for this site! I am less than a week into Paleo, and we made these tacos tonight and they were OUTSTANDING. My husband thinks they are the best (paleo or non-paleo) tacos he’s ever eaten.

Thanks again, and can’t wait for your cookbook!

  14. We just made this last night. Before I made these my boyfriend did not think that they would be good at all. His comment was, you can’t have a taco without cheese and cabbage does not go with taco beef. Well he loved it and probably ate 2lbs worth. it was delicious. This is going on my regular meal list. Thanks so much.

  15. Just wondering if you can substitute the mango for another type of fruit. Not much of a mango fan.

    Thanks…love your website!!!

  16. I’m on my first few days of seriously trying paleo/primal living and just made these tonight. It was HARD to stop at two. I can’t wait for my husband to get home from work and try these things. SO GOOD. I did it without mango since I’m being careful with carbs for weightloss, but I can imagine how great it would taste with that touch of tropical sweetness.

I just bought your book yesterday, too. You’re making it too easy for me, even with a 9 month-old. Thanks so much, Sarah! You rock! \m/

  17. Can’t wait to try this! I am just easing into the Paleo Lifestyle and starting to ease my family into also. I made “burritos” the other night and ate mine on lettuce and to my amazement my daughter wanted hers that way also! I am excited about this because it will give me the flavor that I miss from beans! Thanks! I love this blog!

  18. I saw this video last night and ran out to get the stuff to make it today.

Oh… my… gosh! That was awesome! Next time: just salad. The lettuce taco shell was to messy :)

Thank you for sharing the yumminess! I’m going to have a great lunch tomorrow too :)

  19. Where’s the “demo”? I only see this recipe page. Under the videos page the “Cooking Demo – Paleo Tacos with Purple Cabbage Slaw” link takes me here, but no video anywhere!

  20. I made this for dinner tonight and I really loved it – it was so fresh tasting, and the only thing that would have made it better is to use fresh garlic in place of the garlic powder – I love that your recipes are simple enough for everyday so I ordered your book – am anxious to try some of your other recipes :)

  21. Thanks so much for creating this blog and sharing recipes. I’ve just discovered paleo over the last couple of weeks and am loving what I’m reading and eating. I made these taco’s for dinner tonight. Soooo good! My nine year old son ate three! So far the biggest hit with him.
    Thank you again!

  22. Love this recipe! Just found your stuff after the first of the year when I was looking for more paleo recipes. Love your approach, bought your recipe book and everything we’ve tried is a winner. Thank you Sarah!

  23. Just curious… the recipe calls for “green mango” while the photo shows a well-ripened (yellow) mango – which works best?

  24. your hubby is cute Sarah! My friends just talked to me about Paleo . They’ve been doing for a month now! my hubby and i should start too! I have a question…so what kind of oil do you use to cook the meat? And where can I purchase a book of Paleo’s recipe? =)
