I received a bunch of heirloom tomatoes in my CSA box this week and while gazing at them on the counter along with a few fresh cucumbers, beautiful purple bell peppers, and big red onions, I became inspired to make a gazpacho! YUM was the end result and so refreshing on a hot day. We topped the gazpacho with some paleo avocado cream for a deliciously rich addition to the bowl of goodness. Here it is!

Easy Skillet Rosemary Chicken, Pecan Basil Parsley Pesto and more…
Sometimes crazy summer days lead to late night hectic dinners and last night the sun was setting as we sat down to eat. Although the food was delicious, the actual experience ended up being more of a fiasco then a relaxing evening together. I suppose that’s what I get for trying to have meal time at bed time but despite the hiccups like Jaden dumping his entire plate onto his lap and Rowan suddenly deciding that he no longer likes chicken, or zucchini, or eggplant, or anything at all really, we all eventually filled our bellies and gratefully crawled into bed.
Everyday Paleo “No Potato” Salad
As mentioned on my Facebook page, we have been busy all weekend celebrating my dad’s 70th birthday! My sister, brother-in-law, and my sweet little niece came to visit along with my brother and of course my dad and his wonderful wife Sandy. This weekend was dedicated to my dad and filled with precious moments spent with my family. We all did a lot of laughing, a little bit of crying, and a whole bunch of hugging and I slept soundly at night with a house filled with the ones that make my little corner of the universe bright. I am grateful to have a family that I hold so dear to my heart and trust me; I know how lucky I am. Continue reading
Roasted Summer Squash
Summer is upon us here in Northern CA – and hurray to that! We have spent the last few days cooling off in our beautiful Butte Creek and enjoying the bounty of our CSA’s first summer veggies.
Avocado Goodness…
This little snack is too easy to be this good. I almost feel guilty posting this one but holy cow, sometimes just making one tiny change to a normal everyday food item makes all the difference in the world, so I had to share! I was telling John when he came home for lunch today that I must be in a culinary rut, as I had him sample something that was intended to be a new recipe… Continue reading
A Complete Dinner: Steak, Veggie Stir Fry, Grilled Artichokes & Garlic Lemon Butter

I have every intention of doing another “Week in The Life” post, and plan to start tracking our food as of today but in the meantime, here is another complete meal post that I hope will be fun and helpful. Dinner last night was a family project and a nice way to return home after our most recent Paleo Talk seminar in Clackamas Oregon. I’ll be posting tomorrow about that event. In the meantime, here’s dinner! Continue reading
What A Crock

Umlauts make it super Metal!
For months now, a few people at NorCal have been singing the praises of their Harsch Gärtopf fermenting crocks. They love the delicious probiotic-rich kraut and vegetables this device cranks out. I had been on the fence about buying one as they weren’t super cheap and I wasn’t sure I had the drive to keep up interest to make the purchase worthwhile. A couple weeks ago I was massively sleep deprived by a sick baby and found myself behind the computer at 4am with a debit card. Flash forward: my own Harsch Gärtopf fermenting crock arrived from Amazon last week. Continue reading
