Busy Family Life, Summer Days, and Packing Paleo for Sports Tournaments!

Here I am, sipping coffee while grilling burgers and flank steak at 9am on a Saturday morning, as well as packing the cooler as we head out to yet another baseball tournament! While it’s possible to eat out successfully as a Paleo family, it’s certainly not something we want to do 2-3 times a day while traveling. Why? Not only is restaurant food inundated with unhealthy oils and hidden, unwanted ingredients; it’s just plain expensive.  So here are some ways we feed our busy family daily and also how we pack our cooler for baseball tournaments.   [Read more...]

Podcast Announcement, Facebook, and a recipe…

Winter Soup

Happy Friday Dear Friends!!  Some of you might have noticed that soon I will be posting podcasts.  I received a few comments in which folks expressed their concerns that I might only be posting my blog content via podcasts which is not the case at all!!  My reasoning for the podcasts is as follows: each week I receive hundreds of emails and comments via my web page and my facebook page.  I want so badly to answer every single question but the reality is, I am only one person and there is no way for me to do so. Baa Baa Breakfast

I have had a few people comment about breakfast options that do not include eggs.  I know some folks never get tired of eating eggs, I being one, but I do think it’s important to have a lot of variety in our paleo diets.  With that being said, here are some suggestions to scramble things up at breakfast time, sans the eggs. Puerto Rican Beef

I was raised by a health nut, foodie mother who was as adventurous in life as she was in the kitchen.  My mom spent several summers in Mexico learning to speak Spanish, and coincidentally helped to fuel my love for the flavors!  Years later, I marry John – who’s father comes from Spanish decent and who’s mother’s heritage is from the Philippines and you can only imagine the whole other world of foods I was introduced to. Holy Cow – People are Listening!!

I am feeling optimistic, I feel as if People Are Listening!!  I can go into Raley’s, Trader Joe’s, and now Costco and find various offerings of grass fed beef, free range bison, and free range organic chicken!  I no longer feel like an underground cult member, looking and longing for my next fix of beef that won’t kill me.  We, Us, the Consumer, have spoken and we are being heard, so keep it up folks!!! A Cool New Blog, and a Cooking Demo – Albondigas Soup!!

As you all know we are raising a paleo family; ultimately hoping to avoid disease and most importantly wanting to pass the gift of health and longevity down to the most important people in out lives, our children.  Parenting is the hardest job one will ever have, and yet, parents work hard to do what is best for their kids, and those of you who are mommy’s and daddy’s know first hand all the emotions that go along with raising kid-lets.  Children do not always make it easy for us parents… I remember one poignant moment as a rebellious teenager, telling my mom, “You just don’t love me!”, and my amazing, loving, beautiful mother looked back at me gently and said, “Sarah, you really have no idea how much I do love you.” [Read more...]

School Lunch and a Trader Joe’s Find

I have had a couple requests for more school lunch ideas.  I posted one on my Facebook page a few weeks ago, which I have also added to this post, along with another picture of a common school lunch for my boys.

I also had a blog reader email me about a pre-seasoned salmon that he found at Trader Joe’s.  I usually steer away from the pre-packaged or pre-seasoned food but this one is GREAT! [Read more...]
