For a Paleo athlete (or any athlete) drinks like Gatorade, Powerade, etc are not a good option. Sure, they restore glycogen, but most are high carb or filled with questionable chemicals, or both!
Most of the time, plain water is all we need for good hydration, but those who compete in endurance sports or high intensity competitions (or have labors as long as mine!) occasionally need an electrolyte boost.
I was one of the lucky few to receive an advanced copy of the new cookbook, Paleo Comfort Foods, by Julie & Charles Mayfield and just yesterday I had a chance to make one of the many amazing recipes! My brother is turning 40 in a couple of weeks. Sorry Mark for throwing you under the bus, but I’m sure you’ll get me back someday! Mark is obviously my inspiration for this post, and more poignantly, Mark has been a constant inspiration for me my entire life. I have a million amazing memories with my big brother, and so many lessons I have learned from him as well.
Please read and enjoy this inspiring story from Midlife Army Wife. Thank you so much Stacy for sharing your journey with us!

I’ve struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember.
I have PCOS (poly-cystic ovarian syndrome), which comes with IR (insulin resistance) and seriously affects my hormones. [Read more...]
First off – some exciting news – I am writing a book which is scheduled to be released hopefully in February!! The book will of course include recipes as well as advice for paleo beginners and diehards alike. Look forward to information on how to get started, how to stay on track, how to shop, how to change not only your eating habits but your outlook – and much much more!! I’m sure I’ll be asking my faithful readers for input such as opinion on cover design and ideas for further content. More details to come so stay tuned! [Read more...]
